Actual Criminal Justice Reform--
When it comes to federal criminal justice reform the First Step Act was just that, a first step. When discussing criminal justice reform on a federal level we need to acknowledge the vast leniency federal prosecutors and federal judges are given and how that leniency does not allow for one to be innocent until proven guilty but rather guilty until they cave. It is also important to acknowledge that the mass incarceration system is inherently racist and we need to stop incarcerating individuals who pose no public risk. We also need to restore 2nd Amendment rights to all people convicted of a non violent felony. And end private prisons.
End Citizens United
Poll after poll after poll shows that both sides of the aisle are tired of massive corporate money in politics. But yet the no good Congress never gets it done. I would push and push and tell you exactly who is holding it up on both sides of the aisle. Citizens United must be repealed.
End The War On Drugs:
The war on drugs has been a massive failure. Furthermore Cannabis being a schedule 1 substance creates massive issues that get in the way of an individual states rights. It's time to say enough is enough and end the war on drugs and begin a war on poverty.
Immigration:
I believe in a logical and humane approach to immigration. I propose that people be given a legal path to citizenship that allows for immediate implementation and is based on how productive of a member of society a person is. After 5 years it could be reviewed and if contributing members of society, like almost all immigrants are, they be offered citizenship.
Abortion:
I vehemently agree with a woman's right to choose. Additionally, as most abortions are a result of poverty I support a war on poverty which would drastically reduce the number of women who feel they need to make that choice. Furthermore, if the anti choice people spent half the time and money they spend on fighting abortion instead on fighting poverty then abortion would be extraordinarily rare.
